Midi Health announced a new acute virtual-care visit on 14 October for urinary tract infections, bacterial vaginosis and yeast infections. The company says clinicians can assess symptoms and prescribe treatment when appropriate, with follow-up for people whose symptoms may involve a recurring or underlying problem.

“We built this visit so women get fast relief”

An appointment is the start of a care pathway

The expansion adds acute care to a platform known for perimenopause and menopause services. Midi’s announcement links the new visits to further assessment when needed, including possible genitourinary syndrome of menopause. It is a service announcement, rather than a clinical trial demonstrating a new treatment effect.

Similar symptoms can need different care

NIDDK explains that bladder infections are commonly caused by bacteria and may be diagnosed using medical history, examination and laboratory tests. A bladder infection can spread to the kidneys. Burning, discomfort or urinary changes should therefore be assessed in context rather than automatically attributed to hormones or treated as the same condition every time.

The question for a virtual service is how well it handles the boundaries of remote care. Patients need clear routes to testing, in-person assessment or urgent care when appropriate. Repeated symptoms also need a plan for reassessment, so speed at the first visit does not become repeated treatment without clarification.

Urinary and vaginal symptoms can be disruptive and difficult to discuss. Easier access to an appropriately trained clinician may reduce some of that friction. The practical value of the service depends on accurate assessment, appropriate prescribing and completed follow-up, alongside affordability and access to local care when required.

Waiting times, costs, testing and referral pathways, recurrence outcomes and antibiotic stewardship. Fever, chills, vomiting or pain in the back or side can indicate a kidney infection and need prompt medical attention. The launch does not mean every urinary or vaginal symptom can be safely managed through a remote appointment.
