What happened
AbCellera reported top-line results from a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled Phase 2 trial of ABCL635. Four weeks after one subcutaneous dose, the company reported a larger mean reduction in moderate to severe hot flashes than with placebo, alongside a favourable tolerability profile.
Why it matters
A long-acting non-hormonal option could offer a different treatment format for vasomotor symptoms. The dataset is small, the findings were disclosed by the sponsor and durability beyond the reported period remains to be established.
What to watch
Full peer-reviewed results, longer follow-up, Phase 3 design, safety across a larger population, the duration of benefit and how the therapy compares with existing options.
